Kruger Park MTB Safari

MTB in Kruger National Park’s Olifants Camp
Mountain Biking in the Kruger Park is a unique safari experience and one that you will remember for the rest of your life!  Cyclists now have the opportunity to combine their cycling skills with a wilderness experience in the heart of the famous Kruger National Park. You will catch a ride to the start of the trail in an open game viewing vehicle, with two fully trained, skilled and armed field guides to lead the trail. We supply the mountain bikes and compulsory helmets (or bring your own), backpacks, water bottles and snacks for use during the trail. We take a maximum of only 6 participants per trail, keeping the experience intimate and memorable.

At this stage, 2 different trails are offered:
Hardekool Draai Trail (21, 4km) is recommended for beginners and the not-so-experienced rider. This is still a long trail and a certain degree of fitness, however, is necessary.

Olifants / Letaba River Confluence Trail (12, 2km) is very strenuous and only for technically experienced riders. This would be considered a “black” course on the international trail grading scale.

Both these trails offer fantastic viewpoints, close-up interactions with many animals, birdwatching opportunities and an unrivalled bushveld experience. These trails can be done in the morning or afternoon, so it is easily combined with a 2 or 3-day stay at Olifants rest camp as part of one of our Kruger Park Safaris.

The guides carry a first aid kit and a handheld radio for communication with the base camp in cases of emergencies. These two fully trained and skilled field guides will lead the trails. It is not a race and full bush interpretation will be done on the trail (interesting nature signs and wildlife sightings). All safety drills and aspects regarding the trail will be demonstrated and communicated by the guides before the trail.

Please note:
• Strictly no persons under 16 years are permitted.
• Departure times and days vary depending on the season.
• Remember appropriate comfortable bush clothing, insect repellent, binoculars, camera, correct footwear, hat, sunblock lotion and personal medication.
