This 7 day safari will visit the beautiful Hwange National Park which offers fantastic game viewing before moving on to Matobo National Park where the rocky granite domes of the Matobo Hills will make for some incredible classic African sunset photographs.
ITINERARY – HWANGE & MATOBO WALKING SAFARI
Day 1,2 & 3:
Hwange National Park
You will be met at Victoria Falls airport by the transfer company who will be waiting in arrivals with your name on a sign. You will be transferred 2 and a half hours to Hwange National Park where you will be met by your guide and transferred to camp, your home for the next three nights.
At Hwange your activities will be walking focused with the expert guides, but game drives are also available. Hwange is a unique national park offering diverse environments which in turn bring a variety of wildlife (over 100 mammal species) and bird life (over 400 bird species).
Situated in western Zimbabwe, the Hwange National Park is the country’s biggest reserve, home to a profusion of wildlife, including Giraffe, Lion, Plains Zebra and approximately 40 000 African Elephants. It provides a sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of African Wild Dogs thought to be among the most sizeable surviving groups on the continent. The park’s magnificent terrain ranges from desert dunes, savannah lands and mopane woodlands to rocky outcrops and sparse forests. Other highlights include the Bumbusi National Monument, Mtoa Ruins and the Nyamandhlovu Pan.
Day 4,5 & 6:
Matobo National Park
Today you will have a transfer of about 3 hours to the Matopos (Matobo). This area is known for striking granite outcrops and a healthy population of rhino in the national park. Here you can track rhino on foot, there are great hikes and walks, also game drives and you can also visit ancient rock paintings, Cecil Rhodes’ grave and nearby Khami Ruins.
Idyllically located in the spectacular Matobo Hills, the renowned Matobo National Park is known for its rich human history, its remarkably diverse flora and fauna and its magnificent rugged terrain. This unspoiled natural wilderness features a range of massive red-tinged, granite boulders interspersed with gorgeous wooded valleys making it a dream destination for hikers, climbers and nature lovers alike. The reserve is compact, easily accessible and is home to an impressive range of African wildlife including the highly endangered Black and White Rhinoceros, Plains Zebra, Common Wildebeest, Giraffe, Cheetah, Hippopotamus, Common Warthog and Nile Crocodile as well as Africa’s largest concentration of Leopard and Verreaux’s Eagles.
Day 7:
End of safari
Sadly your final day has arrived and you will have a flight to Bulawayo airport to meet your onward international flight.
